Twelve artists have spent six weeks painting the walls of the old ferry terminal, creating a mural more than 200 metres long that tells the story of the harbour.
The work, paid for by local businesses, was unveiled on Saturday with music and a parade of boats.
Tickets are available from the box office and online. Students and pensioners pay half price on weekday evenings.
The organisers said they wanted to bring culture to every neighbourhood, not only to the city centre, and plan more events in the eastern districts next year.
