The country's largest offshore wind farm, built forty kilometres off the north coast, has started sending electricity to the national grid.
Its 92 turbines can produce enough power for around 600,000 homes. The project took six years to plan and build and employed more than 2,000 people at its peak.
Independent experts will publish an assessment of the first year, which parliament will debate before any further changes are made.
Opinion polls suggest that a clear majority of voters support the plan, especially among younger people.
